Information for Commencing 1st Year Students.
This page is intended to give enrolment advice to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering. You will find answers to frequently asked questions covering all new students.
Students must select a program of units of study (48 credits in total) for their complete 1st year enrolment. You will be allocated to a specific face-to-face academic advice session to enrol but please feel free to contact the Faculty if you have any questions at any time.
Students wishing to apply for special permission to do Advanced units of study, to obtain credit for previous units of study or to do more than the usual workload should complete the enrolment process using the standard menus. Once enrolled, contact a Faculty advisor to arrange approval for any additional enrolment variations.
Students needing advice on Maths bridging courses, assumed knowledge requirements or other program details should also contact a Faculty advisor.
Enrolment variations are possible right up and into to the first week of the semester and the Faculty encourages students to review their choices regularly so that they are comfortable with their study program. First year is the beginning of quite a long 4 or more year road to graduation and we wish to make sure that everyone gets a good start.
All students are expected to read the degree requirements for their Engineering course before they commence their studies, and from time to time during their studies. Undergraduate degree resolutions are printed in the Faculty of Engineering Handbook and fully detail the requirements that must be achieved for students to graduate in an Engineering stream.
A set of typical questions about 1st year enrolment are answered. These cover the more common queries that commencing students ask.
