Meet Davina Rooney: Davina Rooney has been able to use her training as an engineer, as a springboard to a very diverse career – everything from working as an engineer in Australia and Europe to disaster relief work in Pakistan.

I love problem solving and am interested in communications. I’m also reasonably strong in mathematics and science. After a lot of discussion, my careers advisors suggested engineering. Sydney Uni took me under their wing and showed me what opportunities were available. I thought, “Well this is something a bit different”.

It was the best decision I ever made. It is great having such a tangible career; you can show your friends and family what you do. To work with the firm that designed the Opera House is also pretty amazing.''
