Apply to change your stream

Changing streams include changes such as BE(Civil) to BE(Electrical); of BE(Mechanical)/BSc to BE(Aeronautical)/BSc).

Students will be assessed based on the below average mark criteria but will also be required to show that they have met progression requirements in their current degree or stream as specified by the school and that they will able to complete the new stream in the normal time period.

Due to change of ATAR entry from 2016 onwards, there is no original ATAR or WAM requirement to change streams for students who commenced 2016 onwards. Note that entry into the Space major still has an ATAR/WAM requirement, as do stream changes for pre-2015 students.

A new degree structure for the Bachelor of Engineering single and combined degrees commenced 1 January 2016, with the introduction of majors. Several streams were redesigned as majors.
* While students can take (almost) any major, many are impractical and would require significant extra time, units of study and money to complete because of the prerequisites required (eg doing structural engineering as a major in civil is a logical mix, doing structural engineering as major in the electrical stream would is not advised. Visit our majors page to see the "best aligned majors" for your stream"
* You can change or add (most) majors in Engineering in SydneyStudent and do not need to use this page to apply - there are only a few special cases where you need to use this page)
