Engineering Sydney Alumni of the Year Awards

Engineering Sydney is pleased to announce opening of nominations for the Engineering Sydney Alumni of the Year Awards 2009. The awards are presented at the Seymour Centre as part of Research Conversazione on October 30, 2009.

The awards are intended to recognise alumni of the Faculty of Engineering & IT who have shown exceptional dedication, creativity or leadership in their field of professional endeavour which may include outstanding contributions to the community. Anyone can nominate. Nominations close Friday October 16, 2009, 5pm.

Last year our winners were:

• Engineering Sydney Alumni of the Year Award
  This award was won jointly by David Hind and Nancy-Bird Walton.

David Hind received his award in recognition of lifetime achievement in the field of engineering and skills & training.

Nancy-Bird Walton received her award in recognition of services to the nation and for lifetime achievement furthering the cause of women in aviation.

• Engineering Sydney Young Alumni of the Year Award
  This award was won jointly by Simon Ratner and Ryan Junee.

Both alumni were co-establishers of software company Omnisio recently purchased by Google. They received their awards in recognition of their high level of entrepreneurship and excellence in software engineering.
