Mechanical engineering represents a broad branch of professional engineering, with its practitioners applying basic sciences to the development of technologies that enhance our quality of life.

Mechanical engineers contribute to almost every type of engineering activity - from the application of nanotechnology to the design of systems crucial to sustainable power generation, air conditioning, transport, steel production and mining.

We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in this field, including exciting opportunities in research.


At undergraduate level, we offer a four-year Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Mechanical) degree program, while a five-year combined degree program with project management,m arts, science, commerce, law, music or medical science is also available.

Our undergraduate programs are accredited by Engineers Australia.

At the postgraduate level we offer mechanical coursework programs as part of the Master of Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering. We also offer research programs leading to the degrees of Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy.
